1、 Project Background: Strategic Opportunities in the Vietnamese Photovoltaic Market
In 2018, the Vietnamese government launched a highly attractive solar grid electricity subsidy policy, with a rooftop photovoltaic electricity price of up to 8.38 cents per kilowatt hour, directly stimulating the explosive growth of the distributed photovoltaic market. As a core participant in the Southeast Asian photovoltaic industry, PWSOLAR has successfully won the bid for the 30kW grid connected photovoltaic power station project in Ningshun Province based on its deep experience in the Vietnamese market. This project uses 102 380 watt monocrystalline solar panels with a total installed capacity of 32.13 kW, becoming a benchmark project for early distributed photovoltaics in Vietnam.
2、 Technical solution: Core advantages of 380 watt monocrystalline modules
(1) Component selection
The project uses PWSOLAR's 380 watt monocrystalline PERC modules, with core parameters including:
Peak power: 380Wp (standard test conditions)
Conversion efficiency: 19.22% -20.86%
Temperature coefficient: -0.35%/℃
Size and weight: 1755 × 1038 × 35mm, 19.5kg
This component adopts monocrystalline silicon back passivation technology, which can maintain stable power output in high temperature environments, especially suitable for the tropical climate conditions in Vietnam.
(2) System Design
Array layout: Components are installed at the optimal angle on the roof and ground areas, with 102 components arranged in a 3 × 34 series parallel structure to maximize the use of available space.
Grid connection scheme: 33kW grid connected inverter is used to achieve 380V low-voltage grid connection, and all generated electricity is connected to the local power grid.
Intelligent monitoring: Integrated data acquisition system, real-time monitoring of parameters such as power generation, voltage, current, etc., supporting remote operation and maintenance.
3、 Implementation process: Localized collaboration and technological innovation
(1) Construction Challenge
The project faces three major technical difficulties:
High temperature environment: The average annual temperature in Vietnam is 28 ℃, and the temperature coefficient of the components directly affects the power generation efficiency;
Roof load-bearing capacity: The original building structure needs to be reinforced to ensure that the load-bearing capacity per square meter does not exceed 30kg;
Grid connection: Coordinate grid connection agreements with local power companies to address voltage fluctuations.
(2) Solution
Structural optimization: Adopting a lightweight support system to distribute the weight of components to multiple support points;
Heat dissipation design: Reserve a 10cm ventilation gap at the bottom of the component to reduce operating temperature;
Localization team: Collaborated with a Vietnamese engineering company to complete installation and commissioning, and trained over 20 local technical workers.
4、 Project outcome: Dual benefits of economy and environment
(1) Power generation performance
Annual average power generation: 280000 kWh
Equivalent utilization hours: 1200 hours, an increase of 15% compared to similar projects;
Emission reduction benefits: Annual reduction of 280 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
(2) Economic benefits
Investment payback period: 4.2 years (calculated based on the current electricity price);
Owner's income: Save approximately $25000 in electricity bills annually and achieve net income within 8 years.
(3) Social impact
Technology transfer: Train the first batch of photovoltaic installation technicians for Vietnam;
Demonstration effect: The project has become a distributed photovoltaic model project promoted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Energy;
Industry driven: Promote the development of the local photovoltaic module distribution, installation, and operation and maintenance industry chain.
5、 Experience summary: The key to success in the Vietnamese market
(1) Technical adaptability
The 380 watt single crystal module performs well in high temperature and high humidity environments in Vietnam, with its low attenuation characteristics (≤ 2% in the first year and ≤ 0.45% year by year) ensuring long-term power generation stability.
(2) Policy sensitivity
The project accurately grasps the 2018 electricity price subsidy window period, achieves maximum revenue through rapid approval and grid connection.
6、 Outlook: Continued Expansion of Vietnam's Photovoltaic Market
This project has accumulated valuable experience for PWSOLAR in the Vietnamese market. As of 2025, the company has completed the construction of a 130MW photovoltaic power station in Vietnam and will continue to focus on:
Technological upgrade: Develop 630W+efficient components to adapt to industrial and commercial roofs;
Energy storage integration: exploring photovoltaic+energy storage systems to improve energy self-sufficiency;
Digital Operations: Deploy AI predictive maintenance platform to reduce operational costs.
In the wave of energy transformation in Vietnam, PWSOLAR will continue to promote the popularization of green energy through technological innovation and contribute to the sustainable development of Southeast Asia.
